Cultivating vines was part of our grandfather everyday life. Cultivating them of course with the traditional way back then , meaning tight plantation, no irrigation , no chemicals usage, and probably a very low yield of grapes, depending of course on the yearly weather conditions. All this havent really changed through the years. Right now technology and science let us understand more about the process and the purpose of every tactical intervention in the vineyard.

Although the vine tradition and the stories go back to the Minoan times, we haven’t had multiple centuries to study the intricacies of our terroir – the sense of place created by the interaction of soils, climate, and topography.
The soils that occur most commonly in Crete are various kinds of clay earth and dark rocky soils on hard limestone deposits.

Since 1980, we have been determining the best way to grow incredible grapes here, and we are continually refining our vineyard as our knowledge and experience grow.

Grape growing on Crete dates back thousands of years to the Minoan civilization. Due to the tumultuous history of Crete, we haven’t had the opportunity to study the intricacies of our terroir- the sense of place created by the interaction of soils, climate, and topography. Since 1980, we have been studying our soils and refining our knowledge of our vineyards. Most of our vineyards are planted in clay and limestone soils which helps us grow incredible grapes.
